Disco 4 2010 TDV6 Alternator change

Hi all , any advice on 2010 TDV6 alternator replacement . Can access bolts , but can part be removed and replaced from underneath ? Cheers

England 2010 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 HSE Auto Ipanema SandDiscovery 4

I tried from the underneath but in the end removed from above after fan was removed. Cables are quite short. Ensure you get a denso and right capacity. I did twice as first one fitted was unbranded and didn't fix issue. Denso one went on no issues

Its an easy job from above around 20mins once you remove the viscous fan Andrew

D3 2.7tdv6 2005
D4 3.0 SDV6 Commercial died and gone to LR heaven
D5 3.0 SDV6 HSE

But put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator for when you wiggle the alternator out of its hole… to stop the alternator catching it….

Brilliant , thanks all for the advice … 20 mins sounds ambitious given my age and lack of flexibility , skill etc 🙄

you will be surprised, a good 13mm ratchet spanner helps and don't forget to disconnect the battery or it gets a bit sparky. Andrew

I just need to get the fan tools .. is the D3 2.7 fan same as D4 .. are tools the same ? I had a D3 befor the D4 , loads went wrong , but the alternator was fine !
