You have a choice as to whether to dismount all 4 struts and simply replace them with new units (airbags and shocks) which is what I, and many others have done. Or you can take the struts apart and replace just the shocks; the choice of brand and model is up to you, I think there's plenty of choice.

However, I chose the first route as I reasoned that I didn't want to have to do the whole thing again for a split airbag related to age only a few months later. Prices are about £175 a corner, on average.

HELP-BUYING SHOCK ABSORBER

Many thanks for your answer and tips, but, when we live overseas it is very difficult to replace parts of any system, for example airbags and shocks as you have mentioned. The best option for us in Brazil is import because it is impossible to pay around £ 600 for EACH shock absorber at Land Rover dealers.
I would appreciate it very much for tips where to buy (websites) and mainly good brands in UK or Germany.
Count on you

Try site sponsors on here, advanced factors,or Duckworths another site sponsor at the very least you will get an idea regarding the shipping costs from the UK,they certainly are not that price to buy here.

As you said its difficult for you due to your location, internet searching for you is the only real way to find out the costs involved.

Good luck Thumbs Up

In the past few months I got all four complete air spring / shock absorber assemblies from Advanced Factors UK, and shipped to Australia. Very easy international purchase and very helpful to answer several questions that I had.

I believe that there is only one factory making the assemblies now.

The ride over any sort of bump in my 2005 D3 HSE, is very hard. The Air Struts are fine so, I have assumed the Shocks are the issue. I plan on fitting Bilstein B4 Shocks, if anyone has experience of fitting these to their D3, then please let me know.

The advice would be very much appreciated.

I would be looking at the front, rear bush if they are not OEM or worse still if they are Polybushes that is your problem not the shocks.

Thanks for the replies.

The bushes are genuine LR, and as far as I can tell, are still in good condition.

I’ll give the test a go later today when I’ll have a helper.
