18" defender alloys
Would a 18" alloy wheel from the new L663 defender fit a discovery 4 and clear the brake calipers.
I understand that the steel wheel does but was wondering if this also applies to the alloy.
Looking for a cheaper alternative to compomotives.

there are some good deals to be had on 18" defender alloys if they fit. Tuffants are still very expensive.

Yeah, I had the same thought. I fancy the Evo Corse from No Road Club, but I want the Defender 2020 ones (https://noroadclub.com/collections/evo-cor...ender-2020) because the offset is ET20 compared to the ET35 for the D4 version (https://noroadclub.com/collections/evo-cor...iscovery-4). I like the idea of a wider stance, but not the idea of spacers, so figured this is the way forward. I'm unsure whether or not to take the leap though, in case they don't fit or drive like a dog.

The ND steelies weight 18.3kg per rim. The D3 alloys (6 spoke RRC002900MNH) weight 16.3kg in comparison.
The offset is 42.5ET (ND) vs. 53ET (alloys).
I did notice the increased weight of the wheels on the driving performance. But I also switched from winter tires to BFG KO2. There's also a significant weight difference.
To drive 18" legally in Germany there is almost no other option than the ND steelies.

The new defender steelies look awesome. There’s a lot on offer on eBay including brand news ones (full set) for around £500 which includes brand new all terrain tyres. I’m thinking if this for my D4 but most (if not all) come with 70 profile tyres on 18” rim. This increases the overall diameter of the wheel and without lifting the ride height will rub on lock. Has anyone put ND steel wheels with factory tyres straight onto their D3/4 ? And if so what has been your experience? I think I need to understand what compromises are in play if I decide to fit the larger wheel set. To get the ND wheel to match current D4 factory alloy set up I’d need to replace the tyres for 60 profiles I believe. But that won’t make much sense financially. Any advice / experience appreciated.
