Pirelli ATR’s delivered 45k miles

I am getting close to needing to put some new boots on the D4.

The Pirelli Scorpion ATR’s have done a good job and given 45k miles, even with my driving.

Obviously the ATR is no more, so I would have to consider the Pirelli AT+ as a replacement if sticking with Pirelli. I don’t know if the Pirelli AT+ is as durable as the ATR though. I guess the advantage of the Pirelli AT+ is the fact it is the only one rated for snow.

Is anyone running Continental Crosscontact ATR’s and what is the performance like?

I could also look at the Cooper or the Avon AX7 which I understand to be the same tyre just badged differently. The appeal of the Cooper or Avon is the fact that they are ‘C’ rated for wet stopping. What sort of lifespan have people had out of the Avon?

For clarification the bulk of the use is on road so good road manners and wet performance are important. I go for the AT tyres mainly for longevity and cosmetic looks. I do see a bit of off road pulling a twin axle.

As ever I would welcome any thoughts and input.

In 19” I’d try the Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure or the Pirelli AT plus. Thumbs Up

AT+ works quite well in the Finnish winter. I’m very pleased. Can’t say anything yet of how long they last. Thumbs Up

Out of those two I guess the AT+ wins as it is snow rated.

Depends if you need to have a 3pmsf rated tyre or not I guess.

I used Pirelli ATR’s for years and found them very good in wintery conditions and snow.

I’m always a tad sceptical of an AT tyre with a 3pmsf rating, as in my opinion they’ll never be as good on road as a proper road tyre with a 3pmsf rating.

I’m currently running 3pmsf rated GG AT3’s which aren’t as good on road in wintery conditions as the Pirelli Verdre All Season’s which aren’t rated.

The Wrangler AT Adventure is an oe tyre for the new Defender. The AT+ looks better (imo).

I’m not sure which is I would go for tbh. Thumbs Up

I have gone for the Pirelli AT+ as the ATR has been a great tyre.

Managed to get 4 tyres fully fitted for £138.90 a corner Very Happy

Once fitted I am then heading to an alignment specialist for a hunter 4 wheel alignment.

I think I’d have made the same choice. Tricky though as there’s now such a choice of 19” AT tyres.

Please keep us informed as to their performance and wear rate. Thumbs Up

always liked pirelli atr's.

pirelli tyres do seem to get a bit of stick but the atr in general is a great tyre, and good looking.

45K, pathetic. I got 95K miles out of a set of Michelins on my D1.

Then ripped the sidewall on one in Skye. Gutted I was as I wanted the magic 100k out of a set.

95k miles from a set of tyres? How old were they in the end?

The mileage only counts if you have them fitted, not carrying them in the boot.

To be fair I have a Scorpion Zero that has travelled 65k miles and still has 9mm left on it.

What Michelin was it? Must have been hard as nails and not motorway friendly.
