Headslamps shell replacement - adaptive Xenon vs halogen |
|
Hi All,
Headlamps shell between halogen and adaptive Xenon looks to be the same at first look.
Does any of you have any view on if it should be technically possible to take interior of adaptive Xenon (broken) into shell coming from halogen ones - meaning these are the same? Outside looks to be the same, same as interior with just different lightning element meaning xenon vs halogen + the adaptive portion, but all the mounting points I'd imagine are same. I am not 100% sure and in hopes one of you might know if it's the same or not.
Literally minor accident caused to have shell broken, but all interior is untouched. Adaptive Xenons are rarely available as used and cost of new one is damn high.
Am fully aware of potential problems with humidity and difficulty with procedure, but there are companies dealing with headlights and sealing it properly. Unfortunately they lack of knowledge if the shell is the same or different hence asking here before investing into additional light.
Thanks in advance.

You can certainly get replacement lenses but don’t know about the rest of the unit, might be worth just buying one and trying it?

Thanks - these are good links.,That's what I've checked already and by the looks, shell is the same. On halogen side there's also that empty slot at the bottom for parts which are required for Xenon. Therefore, feeling is that the back part of the shell is the same. That would drive the statement that potentially for adaptive ones, it's the same too. One little difference between Halogen and Xenon is the DLR portion, which is more of interior element than shell.
Still looking for someone who could hopefully confirm that it is possible to use shell from halogen lights for adaptive Xenon interior.
Thanks.
