P080a help where to start!!
Hi all good morning to you all looking for some of your knowledge we still haven’t figured out how to sort this code out, on start up we get the message “transmission fault traction reduced” nothing else no lights warnings ect, went to go out in it the other night and got to the bottom of the road and turned right and there was a horrible banging noise so took it straight back home, having a play today with the twisty knob for the terrain settings and on the 4x4 screen it seems that the rear diff dosnt seem to lock on any setting it just shows an open green lock on the rear diff and the transfer case only locks in one position then when you start driving the lock goes from a orange locked lock to green open and stays unlocked. I have read the codes and all it says is p080a clutch position not learnt. I do have a jlr mongoose sdd but don’t really know how to use it. Is there a way I can calibrate the rdm using the sdd, can I remove the rdm and bench test it/inspect the internals, could it be something else being a discovery 3 bad brake switch, steering angle sensor, bad earth ect as I know one simple problem can cause 10000000000 unrelated other things to go wrong any help on where to start would be a great help

At the very least it sounds like you need to recalibrate the transfer case clutch. Does it have a locking rear diff? If you look at the diff you can see if there is a motor/actuator fitted.
I dont use SDD but I'd imagine it can do the TC recalibration.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Hi yes it dose have rear locking diff, hse model, I had a look at the motor yesterday cleaned the 1/4 turn connector with electrical cleaner looks like it’s been off befor as you can see the rtv/sealant the used to reinstall it onto the top of the diff, might have to have a play with the sdd to try and find the recalibrate function
