FBH failing to ignite - Smoke but no fire!

It’s nice to set the FBH to come on in the mornings to defrost the car before the school run. Last couple of days it’s failed to start.

I check it this morning by setting it to come on manually (from the info screen) and it made the usual jet taking off noises, and kicked out a lot of smoke, but didn’t ignite.

I’ve read the fault codes and they said

B1D29-93 no start even after restart attempt

B1D31-94 flame detected prior to normal operation

U3000-16 Control module

Any ideas? Time for a strip down and clean? Can this be done and still use the car?

Thanks

Have you checked how much fuel is in the car ? needs at least 1/4 tank otherwise it doesn't want to play !

If you have a GAP you can test fire it I believe...
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Yes , you will need to join the two coolant pipes together, then you should be fine.

I just checked and there’s half a tank. Don’t have a gap tool unfortunately…. Thanks

Thanks, I’ve seen a guide by Robbie which I’ll explore in more detail. Car is 11 yrs old now, so I’m sure the FBH hasn’t been touched to date. Will consider a summer refurb.

One quick way to see if it will fire up is to pull off the air intake pipe and try to start it, while giving it a quick squirt with easy start to see if it kicks in to life.
You can fool the car by sticking the sensor in the freezer.
