Alternatives to GAP IID?

Hi,

I had a GAP IID BT tool for my D3 and mostly it was only useful for reading and clearing fault codes. I think I once used it to diagnose a faulty PDC sensor.

On the whole, you couldn’t change much in the CCF.

What are the alternative code readers out there where you can read and clear codes? I’m after another one but not at £450.

Recommendations??

Be interested too, but it seems that the Gap II is on a bit of a pedestal here (& the other forums).

There are two things I don't like about it ;
The fact that it is "tied" to one vehicle (I would not buy an electrical test instrument that could only be used on one installation).
Despite it's high cost you still have to use the screen from another device.

I’ve got a Autel AP200 and it works great for my 59 plate Disco 4 and also the wife’s gen 1 16 plate evoque. It’s what I would recommend for someone who just wants to read and clear fault codes and read the odd measured value. Will do service light resets and park brake wind back too. Check compatibility for your vehicle before purchase though as it wasn’t much good on a gen 2 evoque and wouldn’t do the service light on a 18 plate gen 1 evoque.

Autel Thumbs Up You can buy an additional license for almost any make of vehicle.
Used Iid tools come on the market fairly regular for around £325 on this site but you have to be quicke they sell fast.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

We use an iid every day, many times a day.
We also have SDD/Pathfinder?TOPiX cloud, but still pick up the iid due to it's speed & functionality.
There are some things it doesn't do compared to the OE tool, but it's very good.
Full CCF edit is really good, quick & easy.
Support is excellent.
regards
Steve

What Steve said Thumbs Up

There are some things it can't do, that the OE tools can

There are some things it can do, where the OE tool can't

There is no 1 tool that will do everything you want, but for the home user, the IID is the tool of choice, and can be transferred between cars with a new licence Thumbs Up

And, it will provide basic functionality on unlicensed vehicles such as fault read & clear, plus a bit more I think.

Remember too the excellent support as mentioned above, there is no tool out there with the back up that comes with GAP Thumbs Up
