Coolant leak dripping off nearside of gearbox sump |
|
Hi everyone
I appear to have warm engine coolant dripping down and off the nearside of the gearbox sump, so coming from the rear of the engine. What would be the best way to locate where it's coming from. The guy who does most of my repair work says he doesn't have a cap for pressure testing Land Rovers and isn't keen to buy one! (He does a great job on any repair he does do though).
Anyone recommend someone Merseyside who'd take a look? 2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather, towing a Coachman VIP 575

Is it coolant or clear liquid - the spot you describe is where the condensation drain pipe is for the aircon system.

As comment above, possibly in the V. Whip the engine cover off and take a look, you'll soon see if coolant is collecting in there. Chris

Hot water, and the level has been dropping, which appears to confirm it. I'll have the cover off and take a look. 2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather, towing a Coachman VIP 575

Turned out to be a connection to the water pump. Radweld did the job. 2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather, towing a Coachman VIP 575

would it be better to fix the leak instead off bodging it with rad weld as when it goes again it might fry your engine and cost a lot more than the water pump housing oh no offence meant please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick, thankyou
