Any tips when changing the fuel filter? I believe that the car self primes so no need to fill with fuel or bleed air from the fuel line? It looks a bit tight for space. Using a Mann filter.

my tip is fit genuine only and if you are not good with the spanners get someone to do it for you
if ok with spanners then its g/box cover off remove the heat shield from the filter unplug the wire connector twist the filter until the unlock arrow lines up then pull it down and out,you don't need to drain the filter just keep it level when removing refit is reverse use new o ringsplease excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick, thankyou

….and line the arrows up on the side of the new canister with the one on the body and twist to lock on. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
Brilliant thanks.
Will the car start again with the new empty filter fitted or do I need to do anything in addition?

It’s super easy to change - plenty of vids on YouTube if you need a run through first.
Just turn the ignition on/off a couple of times until you hear the fuel gurgling sound disappear once you’ve finished.Defender 110 2.4 TDCi Utility Station Wagon.

When the ignition is turned on(press start without pressing brake if SS derivative) the fuel pump will run for a few seconds, if you listen carefully you will hear it do this 3-4 times this will bleed the system, it may take slightly longer to start first time. It can when others can't,

Called into Landrover to pick up my genuine filter. "£60 please sir".
Pulled my trousers back up and left without it..... Will never humiliate myself like that again.

no need to bother just cycle the ignition several times to bleed the air and check for leaks whilst cycling the ign,you will know when its done listen to the pump running it will change the sound when bled through please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick, thankyou

Yes just cycling the ignition did the trick. I do have a Schrader valve – only fuel and no air came out after cycling the ignition.
I also learnt that the genuine LR filter (removed) is absolutely identical to and made by the same people as my Mann filter (fitted). Buy Mann and your buying genuine LR.
