Fuel burning heater fault
Hi
I have a 2005 D3 5 door factory coils etc, this has a very basic spec which is a good thing if you want to cut down on electrical faults .
I have however noticed the Fuel Burning heater wasn't working the other morning when it was frosty.
I've not had the vehicle long and its a case of finding things out as I need them , anyhow I read all the advice in here for the FBH but that concentrates on fitting timers and mod's which to be honest I'm not interested in , i just want it to work as it was designed to do!
I have disconnected the power and re connected it to no avail , I have half a tank of fuel so its not locking out because of that and I have tried to plug my HAWKEYE in but when it looks for the control module it says it is not available.
Now before i rip it off the car swear a lot and loose my 10 mm socket is there anything else I can try to get it going again?
Thanks in advance
Andrew

As GStuart links ^
plenty of advice in the wiki, there is also a whole thread topic for the FBH
(and any threads about it )
there are strip down and service details as well as the Mods stuff for remotes ect,
also details about how you can connect the fbh to a laptop with webasto software to run diagnostics and stuff (IIDs can do it as well) it may well have already locked out istr 3 no starts and you may need to clear this before moving forward as unplugging does not always do it.
you can then spend hours watching fancy coloured graphs wondering what to do next,
or was that just me

Hi Gary,
remote for the FBH one of the best mods (or standard fit) you can have
I'd be making buying the harness on here to connect & interrogate the Webasto to establish what's going as a first step. It's only a few quid & the software is free

and a heated steering wheel of course
Many thks and indeed will be nice to warm the landy beforehand , got the 2 x bits below , think I paid £40 now see it’s gone up to £240 within a few weeks , just got to get round wiring it all up
Must admit I did think about a heated wheel when I fitted a D4 wheel and there’s times it would be nice but blimey they’ve gone up in price , admittedly would buy one if one came up that wasn’t to expensive

FBH fixed
Well guys looks like it just needed a reset after all
My Hawkeye would not communicate with the control module and on advice from another member I got an Icarsoft LR3 tool and that did the trick.
Cleared the lockout code and it fired right up.
Did think about a Gap tool but the expense compared to the Icar was just too much for what I’m going to use it for
