Suspension problem - valve or air spring? |
|
Hi all,
I’m hoping some wise person can help me please. Our 2004 D3 has developed a problem with the suspension. The problem is with the front right where it keeps going down and it’s getting worse.
Is there an easy way to identify if the issue is the valve or whether I need to replace the air spring? Also is that an easy enough DIY job? The last fix involved me stripping the parking brake module to unjam it and replace a stripped gear which was… fun?
Any help would be hugely appreciated. I have an IID tool if that’s of any use getting you readings etc.
Thanks,
Jamie.

I would defo start with checking all the seals on the front valve block

Thanks for the response. I managed to find a leak in the front right airbag so I’ve just replaced the strut and I renewed all of the seals in the front air valve at the same time.
Unfortunately I’m still having issues. Everything inflates as normal but as soon as you drive a few hundred feet down the road it throws up errors and lowers the whole system down onto the bump stops. I think I read somewhere about it possibly being the steering angle sensor which I’ve recalibrated with the IID. I think I saw something else about possibly being an ABS sensor or dodgy connection somewhere but I’m unsure where to check?
The following errors were stored.
Body Control
• B1B02-28 (2F) Low frequency coil - General signal failure - signal bias level is out of range/zero adjustment failure

• B1B70-01 (2E) Local interconnection network bus circuit 2 - General failure information - general electrical failure

Thanks,
Jamie.

The steering angle sensor should not have changed if you only changed a strut. I would be looking for connectors you may have inadvertently moved whilst did the strut and valve block

I guess you tried clearing those error code right?
If they still occuring have you tried doing hard reset on the bus?
Good luck
