Rear prop
Hi all,
For those who've done their rear prop on a 2.7, is it really doable on a driveway with a set of plastic ramps and an impact wrench with an E12 socket? Does the rear flange generally need a breaker bar on it?
Thanks.

Might be a bit cramped just on ramps, I had the rear end jacked up on axle stands, as you will need room to swing a torque wrench or breaker bar at the rear (E14 torx done up to 150Nm). I used a long E14 wrench to break them, took a lot of effort. Fronts (E12 73Nm), I also used a long wrench to undo them, not so easy to get a socket/ extension / torque wrench on directly due to angle of propshaft. My E14 socket is only 3/8” drive, and probably not man enough for 150Nm, but a 1/2” drive socket may be too bulky to get on the bolt heads. The only way is to try the tools you have and see if they can be used, I bought the long wrenches first, on someone else’s (lynalldiscovery I think) experience of doing this job, and they were very useful.D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

I did mine on the driveway, it wasn't too bad at all.
In addition to a set of E Torx I recommend something like this set from Amazon:
You can "create" the right size breaker there and then.

Axel stands would be the way to go I think.
This will allow you to rotate one rear wheel, which will allow the prop to rotate
and access all bolts

I found a bottle jack really useful too.
To lift the one wheel up and down, while under the car
though if you have a power tool, that shouldn't be necessary

Not a 2.7 (not sure why that matters) but I had to use a pit to crack the bolts first, then on drive with axle stands.Series 1 V8
