Parts Delays + insurance + how long do you wait |
|
So some numpty reversed into my door and wing, last month.
So car is with repair shop for over 4 weeks now, needs a new door and new wing, they only use original parts which is good by me, BUT he said it could be 8 weeks or more to get the parts in!!
I am driving a crappy 21 plate corsa, (should have read the small print on admiral insurance)
how long do you wait, !! cannot just wait indefinitely for parts to appear, if I am still waiting end of jan I am going to ask them to write it off if I can. they Will easily get their money back as I am sure someone will buy to repair.
has anyone else had any issues with getting body repairs done, and how long did It take.
Cheers
Mark

Assuming that there's no chance of persuading your insurers to give you a better car and assuming that the parts are indeed taking forever, I'm not sure you can do much except rattle a few cages to try and hurry things along. Getting them to write the car off because there's a delay in getting the parts seems to me to be a non-starter. Unless someone knows different.

is the car still drivable ? if so get it back and use it till the parts arrive then take it in for the repairs or you could ask the ins company for the money then source 2nd hand parts and fix it yourself please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick, thankyou

Are you going through your own insurance rather than a 3rd parties? If a 3rd parties then just the threat of going to a company like Accident Exchange (who will get you an equal or better car than your own and charge the 3rd party insurance company) may get them to provide an alternative.....
If you are claiming on your own insurance then I'd firstly ask if they can provide a vehicle of similar capability (e.g. needing 7 seats for the school run or needing a 4x4 as have to navigate a field) - alternatively could you ask for it to be taken to a different garage for a second opinion on time for parts (then check beforehand what courtesy cars are available - LR main dealer?)
