Dent Repair
My 2012 Disco 4 has had an argument with a tree 🤬
A local body shop has just told me that they can’t repair the bodywork dent because it is alloy and not steel, and so needs a more specialised repair.
Has anyone had a similar dent repaired?

I think a complete second hand one in the same colour would work out cheaper and quicker.

You’ll get he window as well. Check if your local Indie can replace and respiration rather than repair if you supply. It’s a big piece going up and over the passenger door.2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

I suffered a tree strike in exactly the same place, albeit not quite as big and i didnt smash the window. Took it to a local body shop who pulled it out, filled it and painted it. The LR dealers bodyshop started talking about new rear panels etc etc, the local bodyshop done it for £250 i think. COuldnt be seen afterwards.

I had the exact same type scenario with my missus disco 5 - towed a trailer away and forgot i had chained our john deere gator to the trailer which bounced along beside the trailer and hit the disco - our local guy got the dent mostly pulled out and then filled the rest. all done to top spec and a not bad price - happy to pass on his details if you DM me? - i am located just north of London near the M25 in Cheshunt

If you put a magnet near it, I think you will find it is not alloy. The upper and lower tailgate and bonnet are aluminium, the rest of the body panels are steel. Probably too difficult for that particular ‘body shop’. D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

I'll second the previous that where your dent is isn't alloy. It's steel, one of the few places that magnetic light units will afix too on a D4..Jim
