High level brake light…..LEDs out.

Had an “advisory” after getting the D4 MOTd yesterday.

A couple of the LEDs in the high level brake light are out.
Am I right in thinking that this isn’t repairable and I’d need a complete new light unit?
Also am I right in assuming that this isn’t an easy DIY job, so best left to my LR indie?

It’s a horrible job to replace but will be for your indie as well, it’s just whether you trust yourself, or your garage with the hammer Smile

Yeah a new lamp I'm afraid, and it's a bonded unit so care and patience is required in large dollops.

As it's an advisory and only two LED's you could just leave it until it pops a few more out, of which it may not!

How to do it. (but with a bit more care with the pry bar than shown here)

How not to do it. Rolling Eyes

I wouldn't let these guys put fuel in it let alone work on it.

If it were me doing it I'd be masking all the way round the area to guard against any knife slips etc, and covering over the roof area above to prevent scratches from tools etc
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Thanks Chaps ....... as I thought, a horrible job. Confused

Reckon I'll leave it to my LR indie to do, as no doubt if they damage the paintwork it'll be up to them to make good.

Won't be getting it done until May though ...... when I'll be getting another service & MOT just to bring things back in line after the DVLA 6 months Covid extension.
