Hi cayonero, I can’t remember what I paid for my wife's D3, 2 and a half years ago but I’m sure you can do a better deal these days.

I’ve kept fuel figures from day one and as most of the D3’s use is around town, we have averaged 14.1 Lts per 100 Kms over the 50,000 + kms driven so far.

Cheers.

Hi Canyonero, and welcome to the forum... Sounds like you're ready to buy Thumbs Up .

Most dealers that I tried did not want to haggle on price in June 05 so I waited a while and towards the end of that year they offloaded a few at $59,990 driveaway. I thought that was too good a deal to be true and snapped up one of the last that my local dealer had. I was lucky enough to have corporate service and 19" wheels thrown in, however today I would probably prefer the 18" considering how much choice there isn't in 19".

We use the car mostly around town (traffic) which averages about 19l/100km, however on a trip to the NSW north coast last year with a fully loaded car and some offroading, we averaged 12.5l/100km for the whole trip.

3 years later and it has finally been quoted in the 4x4 mags that the D3 has proven itself to be reliable and is more than a match for the new LC200 and anything else in it's path. Good luck

I can't remember the exact price (what is the price these days? the list or specials on offer? what's included, i.e. metallic paint), but it was a discount of around $8k off the RRP with paint and rear vents on the road.

Economy (wrong term? ) is around 19l/100km around town and usually dips below 12l/100km on the freeway. A bit more than expected in town, but it's a fantastic machine and we're still more than happy with the Disco. Thumbs Up

Well, I picked my D3 (Se V6) on Dec 27, December 06. I paid the drive away price but added, metallic paint, steps and rear a/c. (Talked a discount on the accessories and my trade in)

My car is on lease and has done 30K in the last 15 months.

My total cost to own it has come down to .91cent/km.

In comparison, in 1993 I leased a new Mitsubishi Verada and it cost .55 cent/km to own.

I think it makes the D3 a better buy. I now use Premium 98 in the beast.. it gives better highway performance as well as 10% better fuel consumption for around 4-5% more cost at the pump. (I use Mobil FWIW)

Once you've had a D3.. you'll never want anything else.

We also have a 2005 BMW Z4 in the garage... 3 years old last Monday and it has only done 8500K. We just love the Disco so much that we don't use the BMW.

cheers

I picked up mine in May of last year. I can't remember exactly what I paid for it, but I got it under the luxury car tax threshold.

It is coming up to 24,000kms. We live on the upper north shore of sydney and drive it to the CBD for work 4 days a week Consistently average about 14-15 ltrs/100kms. Can spike up to 19ltrs/100kms if it only sits in peak hour traffic. Average between 11-12ltrs/100kms on the open road. I also use Premium 98 (when I can find it these days!), and I think this helps.

Best vehicle I have ever owned. Get one.

I bought my V6SE in March last year for 64k drive away year and have done 24,000k's. No problems, great car. They're still doing the 64k deal which is excellent value.

16l/100k around town (Heavy peak hour traffic), although I've had to change my driving style to achieve this. No tearing away from the lights!. 11.5l/100k on the hwy.

I bought my 4.0 SE, 08 model in November, it was a demo with 800 kms. I paid about $62k, including a few extras. It averages about 14.2 L in town, and 11 L on a run. I tow a big horse float and also did a trip to bright with the caravan at xmas. So far this has been a perfect towing, daily use vehicle. I have now got 12,00 kms on the clock.

My partener has towed horses for many years, with every type of car out there, L/C, Patrol, Utes, wagons. She is amazed at how good our D3 is. Our total weight we tow is about 2600 kg's. She was a bit concearned at us only getting the 4.0. But the new auto box is amazing.

I bought it in Sydney, as the local dearer, was just that. The were trying to off load a 06 demo, with 2000 kms for the same. price. I will give them a try for the first service to see what that brings me.

I have not been able to find any information on the new dealer in Southern Highlands area. If anybody know PLEASE let me know.

I bought mine in Feb 06 while the dealers were off loading their 05 models. Got 19", rear air and metallic paint for $59K.

Fuel consumption is around 17-18 around town and 11-12 on freeway.

It's a brilliant car, but I have one consistent problem of a squeaking engine belt. The dealer was able to fix it but it keeps coming back after 1000-2000km drive. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Btw, the car has electronic speed limiter set at 180km/h... floored for 5min at 4500ish rpm in 6th gear, fuel consumption... very bad on that run~ 8) 8) 8)

That's about the same fuel consumption as the V8 (okay, 12-13 on the freeway, but that's with an awning stuck on the side of the roof-rack). I got a really good price on the V8 18 months ago. Seems the market is over-costing the value of fuel savings that a diesel gives.

DingMark,

I think that you will find that "Andy V6SE" is referring to a 4 L PETROL, not a 2.7 Diesel. Smile

My Diesel returns better than 10 on the open road and 12-13 around town (and towing) Very Happy

BUT, if you are getting those figures from the V8 you are doing well, they are similar to what I used to get from

I thought the V8 was supposed to be slightly more economical than the 4L.

Got mine just over 12 months ago - paid list with the drive away special of the day $63,990 with Corporate servicing thrown in. Have it on good authority that dealers are having trouble sourcing second hand ones which can only be good news for residuals.

Fuel economy is not too bad (although I moved from a Holden Astra so it took a while to get used to watching the gauge go down so quickly). I average 15.7L/100k’s with a totally urban driving cycle (a bit lower than some probably due to the fact that I don’t drive in peak hour traffic) and on the highway I get high 12’s/100ks.

In the end I’m happy with my choice of petrol over diesel as the diesel was $12k more expensive and I don’t do lots of k’s in the car so the fuel cost isn’t a huge issue, that said I would go for diesel if I was in the country as the range of the vehicle would be more of a consideration given its relatively small tank.

ye, mine is a V6SE 4.0L petrol.

I bought it 2 weeks before the local dealer marked down the prices of V8 Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad V8 was only 6-8K (if i remember correctly) more in HSE spec.

I got the same deal (plus $1500 for metallic paint Shocked ). This is my first new car and the reason for that is the total lack of second hand ones! Have to say we are delighted with it - in fact I have never seen my wife so happy with anything automotive before!!
