Injector Fuel Return Line Popping Off
Hey all,
I had to bite the bullet and got a new HPFP fitted after multiple issues with codes and loss of power (limp mode).
After the pump was fitted, the next day I picked it up it popped an injector return line off (white smoke bellowing out of the bonnet, stinking of diesel), it was recovered back to the garage for a new return line assembly and new clips.
Car drove fine for a few days and today it’s popped a different return line off a different injector (white smoke and stinking of diesel) (car recovered again!!)…
Is this due to the HPFP replacement, faulty injector or could something be blocking the return line causing back pressure?
Thoughts and help appreciated!

Check the injector balance offset via diagnostics, and check the fuel filter lines are fitted the correct way around!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Fuel filter has been fitted for nigh-on 12 months with no issues - could it be since the pump has been replaced a month ago that it’s now too high a pressure to return?

The hpfp does not directly influence the pressure in the lp side, the only exception I can see to this is if there is an injector fault. Having said that I have also seen cars run for some time on wrongly connected fuel filters.
Have a look at the attached file (P 363) and you can check the lines on your filter are correct.

So got car back from garage, they weren’t sure why it happened and checked the fuel filter was fitted correctly (which it was) then fitted a new fuel filter incase there was any issues with it.
Almost scared to drive the car now incase it happens again…
One thought I had was if the clips were fitted the wrong way round could they pop off?

Quick update - not had any issues since. Been checking the clips are seated fully and they aren’t vibrating loose so looks fixed
