This morning’s key fob issue
It’s definitely not a good idea to put your only working key fob through the washing machine! After a few calls I managed to get Autolock NW out to sort me two new fobs. They’ve done a great job but I’m now £280 lighter. The AA wanted £300 for one and there was a week to wait. AXA breakdown would only take me to a dealer so they were no help.

What’s even worse is that they weren’t even in my pocket. I picked them up in our bedroom this morning and put them on top of the laundry basket full of clothes to take downstairs. I then must have forgotten and bundled everything into the washing machine. Idiot!2013 D4 HSE Luxe in Indus Silver

Much cheaper than the £750 that LR wanted to provide one new key and replace the KVM that they insisted was needed.
I went down the IID route, bought a new key fob online and did it myself but I did have a second fob to get in and allow the new fob to be coded. MY16 Landmark - Yulong White

I must have been lucky then. Not long after I bought my D4 I managed to put the remote key fob and a Fitbit in the washing machine. They went through the full cycle (30 degrees & 30 minutes) and both came out working fine! I opened the key fob expecting the worst and it was dry inside; they are well sealed which is just as well. Both still working to date.

Mine was very wet inside. I took it apart and dried it and fitted another battery but it just wouldn’t work.2013 D4 HSE Luxe in Indus Silver

I keep mine in a close-fitting silicon rubber sleeve for general protection, still got voids in it but it may have helped keep the water out. Plus the fob has a silicon seal/gasket between the two parts of the case.
