Drivers side foot well fulll of water

I snow foamed and pressure washed the car yesterday
But the this morning I noticed drivers side foot well is pretty soggy
I don’t have a clue where this could have got In
To be honest it could be the rain we had but I haven’t checked beforehand
. I had the sunroof drain fixed , but I think that affects the passenger side
Which is dry . It feels wet up behind the pedals , unless this has wicked up there

I have search the forum but not many posts on this

Any ideas where to look
Cheers
Mark

The roof can leak through the seam under the roof rails though you will find the head lining and a pillar wet if that’s the source. Other places are the windscreen side trim or I think there is an air con drain hose that can come loose and leak in there

If you have a sun roof i would be suspecting the rubber grommet where the roof drain exits into the inner wing behind the passenger side wing grill. loads of how toos on here about it and its a bit of a task to replace but start with removing the lower glove box get a torch and your head in the footwell and look up whilst someone pours water into the corner roof drains . you cant see it directly as its behind the electrical box so i got one of those cheap inspection cameras that plugs into your phone and fed it up behind the box (i taped the camera first to insulate it ) .

I couldnt believe how much water ends up in the floor well when mine went and its a very common issue

Leak

Hi, cheers, this is the drivers side, but I believe looking at YouTube there is a drain both sides ! and exits in the air vent on the drivers side too !

I need to figure how to lift the plastic door sill, remove the air intake grill and get the carpet up and try pouring some water down that drain !

Cheers

There’s lots of info here on clearing and replacing sun roof drains. Use the search facility.
The passenger side is tricky because of the of electrical components, but I’ve heard the drivers side is easier, although haven’t done that myself. I also believe there are drains at the rear of the sunroof, but given where you have said your footwell is wet, then if it is a sunroof drain, it’s likely the front.
The first thing to try is to clear the drain. This is best achieved by opening the sunroof, finding the drain hole ( front corner) and pushing strimmer cord down it. You can also pour a little water down the drain hole to test it. It runs out at the air vent and you should see water running out under the car ( in front of the front wheel when you do it).
I don’t believe you need to remove the door sill to sort the front drain although on the passenger side mine had a lot of water in it. I just leavered up at the front end and sucked out the water with a tube!
You can also try running the cord into the drain from the air vent end. The vents pull off, but on the passenger side, with the bonnet open, I have managed to move the retaining clips of the vent so that it came out more easily as I was a little worried about snapping/breaking something. When I pushed in the cord on the passenger side , I knew I had a hole in the drain as the cord ended up inside the car!
Good luck, keep us informed and search for information on this subject on the forum.
One last thing, once you’ve done this your carpets and the sponge under the seat will take sometime to dry(mine took at least a couple of weeks) so soak up what you can to get things underway.
There are other causes of wet carpets, (leaking door seals etc) that have been reported, but the cord and pour test are a good first step at eliminating the drain.
Cheer

Found it!!

thanks for all the information, its been really really helpful ! FNS has been already fixed.

its the FOS drain, I pulled up the carpet and poured some water into the sunroof drain, it came into the footwell Big Cry

its all drying out at the moment, so ill watch some vids on how to replace.

where do the Rear drains route and come out ??? how do you check these, or do they rarely fail like the fronts.

Thanks again all !! Thumbs Up

Cheers

If you need to stop water coming in whilst you get info/parts etc, you could seal the sunroof with tape. I used electrical tape (no sticky mess when removed) to seal mine for a few days while I got everything together.
Sorry, can't answer your question on rear drains.
Good luck.
