Rear tailgate creak
I have really annoying creaking from my rear tailgate. It’s noticeable at low speed and bumpy roads. If had a look and all the plastic pieces (sides, bottom, top) on the lower tailgate including the one that runs along the top of it seems to creak badly when pressed.
I’ve tightened the screws along the top plastic which has made no difference. I’ve oiled the centre latch. Any ideas? It’s driving me bonkers. Of course my wife says she barely notices it and it doesn’t bother her!
CheersGary

Thanks both. Will investigate further. Had seen a note about tailgate struts. Couldn't make them creak but will oil anyway.

Does the D4 have snubbers either side of the latch? Both my Sport and Focus have these and get full of crap that need to be cleaned out.012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

Thanks for the suggestion. Not heard of snubbers. Are these the triangle side pieces that guide the catch into the lock?
Planning a thorough search and fix day Monday so will work my way through suggestions.Gary

I’ll get a photo, not sure if the D4 has them. It may be more a lift up boot idea rather than side opening.012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

Just to report, I finally got to the bottom of this tailgate creak. Tried a number of things before I found the left hand side (standing at the back of the car) lower tailgate latch creaked when closed if I pulled and pushed it. A spray of WD40 on the latch and all gone away. Can't believe it !
Of course, my wife tells me she never heard it anyway , so the fact it's gone away isn't really noticeable for her but it drove me mad !
CheersGary
