If you share the general location of the "buyer" maybe someone will offer to pop round and get a picture ? you could then PM them the exact address.
I’m tempted but I would probably get into trouble. I will await developments with the return process.

I’ve stopped using eBay for exactly this reason. When it started back in the late 1990s it was a great idea but now it is full of people selling cheap Chinese copies and scammers. Amazon is heading the same way as well.
As previous posters have said, stick to local forums where people can see before they buy so no comeback. I hope you get this resolved in your favour as it certainly looks like a scam to me. I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

I will never sell on eBay again. I would rather take stuff to the tip than pay to give it to some scammer. The money back guarantee is a license to commit fraud and locking the seller out of the process stinks. In an ideal world eBay would be prosecuted for facilitating fraud but they obviously don’t give a about sellers

…….. and the sickening part of it is, it’s the innocent sellers who provide the huge profits for this company …..not the scum buyers (that they side with)! ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

If you continue to argue that the lights they wish to return are not yours, and you don’t accept the return, eBay issue the buyer a return label (I think you eventually get billed for this). When it comes back to you, don’t accept it as this is what then initiates the the refunding process (it’s tracked). After 2 weeks of not being collected it is returned to sender (well at least it was pre COVID). 012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

Sorry to read this, I’ve fallen foul of being scammed twice on perfectly good items o have sold. You literally don’t stand a chance as a seller unfortunately.
I hope you stick with it and get it over turned!! Good luck. 2005 Disco3 HSE Auto 😁

Following the excellent advice I got on here from forum members,I informed the buyer that the lamps were security marked to avoid mistakes. Then I accepted the return request as I had no other option, otherwise EBay would do it anyway. That was one week ago, since then, there has been no response.

I guess one tip to take from this is indeed to security mark things and take a photo of same, so that it becomes possible to prove that the returned item is not the one sold Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

I would also be inclined to report that fact to eBay, to highlight to them that they were clearly trying it on, get a black mark against their account!!?? 2005 Disco3 HSE Auto 😁

the will just open another account.
if you are reporting it, why not do what I suggested and share general location and see if one of us is prepared to go and get a picture or three ?

eBay is full of dishonest buyers, money back guarantee, distance selling etc, the unit next door to us sells on eBay, the amount of products returned for one reason or another is unbelievable. Many buyers are actually buying, using and returning goods as it’s cheaper than hiring, or just fancy a replacement set of new tools.
Electric cement mixer, bought, delivered on the Thursday, returned the following Wednesday, alledged bearing issue, nothing wrong with it, had obviously been well used over the weekend. Job done and sent back.
Set of Sealy battery operated power tool set, consisting of Reciprocating saw, orbital sander, drill, vacuum cleaner etc, in all £700 worth, returned, faulty, drill no power, vacuum cleaner wouldn’t suck anything up, orbital sander burnt out, fault with every item, the items were in a very well used state, hard to believe they had been delivered four days prior, they looked to have had months of use, they all worked though, just very tatty. Had to be returned and refunded as the seller said they were faulty.

I would let eBay know that this is a fraudulent claim, that you have informed Action Fraud and that you will pursue eBay through the small claims court for the costs you have incurred by the fraudulent claim.
I would them register the claim (its not expensive) with the small claims and see what they do - I suspect they will roll over. Being a bully should have consequences. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

glad its heading towards a positive outcome
this is one of the reasons why i stopped selling on Ebay years ago. Buyer claimed non delivery (not recorded as only about a £30 item), failed to answer any of emails, he complained to ebay, they refused to listen to my side and took the refund money. I was instantly guilty. 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten
