This is what EBay said this morning.
When a “Not as described” return is filed, even private sellers are obliged to accept the return under the eBay Moneyback Guarantee Programme.
So basically a buyer has a license to commit fraud, on the other hand I as the seller have no choice but to comply.

Out of curiosity have they sent full size pics of the light plse , wonder if a cyclist has hit them or maybe a shopping trolley ??? , just wonder if the reflection is showing a car park ???
Maybe he’s had them jet washed and they’ve damaged them ??
Indeed also never read of condensation issues of rear lights
Great call with regards to the smart water
Hope u get it sorted out

A fast one is being pulled.
This is why I won't sell on eBay - too many chancers looking to rip off an honest seller.

Sorry for not introducing myself, have watched this forum for about 4 years but reading this post made me have to join and reply. I sold a headlight on Ebay, it was in perfect condition when I shipped it but a couple of days later I received a message and photos claiming it was damaged when received. Unfortunately Ebay nearly always side with the buyer so I was forced to give a refund and at my own expense had the item returned. The item I received back was not the one I sent out but probably the broken one for which my item had been purchased to replace. My advice would be to close your Ebay and Paypal accounts, report this to Action Fraud and let the buyer know you have.

Double bluff the buyer as already stated above.
Ask him to return them for a full refund. Go on to say as soon as you can verify the security markings on them made using smart water (or similar), he can have his money back.
Say this is a practice you have used for years to prevent fraudulent returns and it works very well.
Then see if he returns them.
I have used this bluff a few times when I can see someone is trying to do a 'swap'.
Good luck
this is what i would do a very good idea

EBay only allows one option in this case. That is for me to issue a refund and a return label. I have no option to make my case or even comment. If I don’t do this by the 19th,they will do it and take the money from my bank account. When the items come back, which they probably won’t,I can appeal.
Yesterday morning I messaged the buyer for more detailed photos of the alleged damage,I did remind him that the lamps were security marked,I am still waiting.Even if I was to close my EBay account now, it appears I have already given them permission to access my bank account under the terms and conditions.
Looking online at EBay forums it’s packed with cases like this.
Looks like I am well and truly

This is the third story of this kind I've read just this week. Might be time to close the old eBay account.
My drunk wallet will probably thank me, at least...

Why don’t you contact eBay and speak to someone to appeal the return.
Granted, it’s extremely hard to find a telephone contact number, but after trying just now I was able to enter into an online chat …… better than nothing!
Also if you Google it you should come up with a few numbers to try!
Got this one 0800 358 6551...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
and my SWMBO wonders why I don't ever sell any of my junk valuable but surplus stuff on eBay.
I just use "local" sites ... but still managed to have someone drive to Manchester from Birmingham to collect a tumble dryer

Surely you can get your bank to block any attempt by Ebay to take money from your account particularly as this would appear to be fraud which they are supposedly pretty hot on. I learnt my lesson and never buy or sell anything on that site.

This is all very alarming to read. Best to use the for sale area on places like this I guess from now on. That said, a disingenuous buyer could make a fortune fleecing us all very easily it appears.2007 Discovery 3 HSE Lugano Teal
2011 BMW 520d Touring Sophisticato Grey
2000 Porsche Boxster 2.7 Arena Red
2002 Porsche 911 3.6 C4 Cabriolet Artic Silver - sold last year
1987 Porsche 944S Black - sold last year
2006 Discovery 3 HSE Buckingham Blue - sold last year
2012 Ford Grand CMax Panther Black (wife’s) wish we’d sold that instead!
If you share the general location of the "buyer" maybe someone will offer to pop round and get a picture ? you could then PM them the exact address.

I tried that number and others I found online, but after making me listen to a load of for five minutes I get cut off.
I was eventually able to have an online chat (a process my fat fingers hate) with an agent and explain my case. I was advised to accept the return request and given a link to enable that without issuing a refund. When and if the items are returned,I have to report back to ebay regarding the condition etc.
I started that process and I am waiting for the buyer to respond.
No response as yet and no reply to my request for detailed photos. I tried to disconnect my bank account from my ebay account in the seller hub but it’s not letting me saying unfinished transactions.
The buyer now has until July 2nd to make the return so we wait and see. Many thank to everyone who has replied, your advice is greatly appreciated.
I will keep you posted.
