Crankshaft bolt tightening
I have a disc 4 and in the process of talking up the crankshaft bolt. I have read somewhere on this forum that you can use the timing tool on the flexplate to hold the crankshaft, is this correct. The torque is 300Nm plus 90 degrees and the flexplate does seem a little flimsy, can anybody confirm?

Are you sure it is 300Nm + 90 deg ? On my D3 I'm pretty sure it was 100 Nm + 90 deg, and that was b**** y tight.... The Laser locking pin that I used in the flex plate worked fine for me, the flex plate is stronger than it looks.D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

You'll need something like this to get that +90 degrees D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.
