failed to start
Hi. My discovery 3 tdv6 2007. It went for mot this morning passed they went to take it of lift and engine failed to start. Plugged in to computer it say one camshaft is turning the other is not. Could this be a belt that has stripped teeth ? Tia.

Sounds like chain failure, or a sensor fault. Hopefully the latter.Simon.

There are no fault codes for only one cam turning?
I would start by removing the cam belt cover and check the tensioner has not broken off the oil pump.
It's a weak point on these engines if the oil pump has not been upgraded to the later type.Andrew

Welcome, do not turn the engine over until you have established what the problem is, in the unlikely event that the chain has snapped that connects the camshafts together it could ruin the engine. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Maybe. Check the front cambelt cover on the driver side for damage

You have nothing to loose removing the timing belt cover even if the oil pump and belts are good you will have to remove them to do a chain. You will also be able to see if you have the updated oil pump.Andrew

Do they still rev the “nuts” off them when doing the MOT pollution tests? It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
