Suspension Lowering when rear passenger door opened *Fixed?*

Hi all,
Probably 80% of the time lately, when I open the rear passenger door, the car will sink right down to it's bump stops, then when I start the car it chimes and says "re set suspension if clear of obstacle" and I put it back to road height , although handy for getting my toddler in and out does anyone have any ideas? Is it something that I have inadvertently set with my dodgy key fob where I keep clicking the unlock button amd cursing in the pouring rain when it doesn't unlock?
Sounds like a fault though as it comes up on the screen. I will plug it in soon but I don't have the reader at the mo so wondered if anyone knew. Thanks!

Hi

Does this help as a starting point as indeed maybe ur fob is programmed to lower suspension , wonder if u program it something else , ie opening the rear tailgate and see if it still does it

Here are the options

Hope it helps

Ps, if u get stuck I have an iid , am in swanley kent so if ur passing and need the codes read am more than happy to do that for u

Program the key fob 'Land Rover' button

The Land Rover button of Discovery 3's key fob (bottom of the 3 buttons, with the 'Land Rover' logo on it) can be programmed to do one of four things - trigger the panic alarm; turn on the 'follow-me-home' headlights; raise or lower the suspension; or release the upper-rear tailgate.

To set the panic alarm, insert the key in to the ignition (position two) and then remove the key from the ignition. Immediately after, hold down the Land Rover button on the key fob whilst pressing the hazard warning light button on the dashboard.

To set the remote to turn on the headlights, insert the key to position two and then remove it. Hold down the Land Rover button on the key fob whilst flashing the headlights (by pulling the headlight control stalk). The amount of time the lights remain on for depends on the headlamp delay setting (which can be changed within the Settings menu of the digital display).

To set the remote to raise or lower the air suspension, turn off the engine and remove the key. Within one minute, press and hold the Land Rover button on the key fob whilst pressing the air suspension control lever on the Terrain Response area of the centre console (to either position, up or down). The suspension can then be adjusted using the remote key fob. The hazard warning lights must first be turned on and all doors closed. To raise the suspension, hold down the Land Rover button whilst pressing and holding the lock button. To lower the suspension, hold down the Land Rover button whilst pressing and holding the unlock button.

To set the remote to release the tailgate, press and hold the Land Rover button on the fob and then release the tailgate (either by opening in outside or by pressing the Lock and Unlock buttons on the dashboard together).

Once the remote has been successfully programmed, the vehicle will 'bong' to confirm.

Thank you so much, I'll try this when I get in, I have programmed the fob before for the follow me home lights. So I'll have a go on the suspension side of things.
Thank you for your reading offer too, you're only 20 mins up the road, I should have mine back in a few days, there is a suspension fault lurking as my orange light keeps coming on, but does need new tyres, and thinking i may have a small leak back drivers side but driving ok at the moment.
Got to sort the judder and black smoke this week 1st 🙄🤯

TBH. It's not easy to get the suspension to move with the key.

You have you have the hazzards lights on, and then hold 2 buttons on the key.

If the orange light is coming on, then the codes need reading Thumbs Up

Just driven to Morrisons, got out, not locked or unlocked car, opened rear passenger door and down she goes, only happens on this door too. I'll get the codes read when my reader is back from it's loan and see what she is upset about now...

Ur so welcome , know when I had issues with mine it was abit of a head scratcher before I found the problems etc , also had plenty of help from others here in the past so always nice to try and pass that on that’s great urs is on the way

If after you’ve got it you’re still stuck am more than happy to help where I can , plse don’t think I’m trying to teach u how to suck eggs but have plenty of tools, multimeter etc

Fingers crossed the black smoke will just be a loose or split intercooler hose

As pete k says get the codes and also ref the orange light maybe the compressor is past it’s best and needs new dryer material , can easily check the compressors psi via the live data of the iid

Plse let us know how u get on

wonder if there’s water in the passengers side floor or maybe there’s a lose wire on that back rear passenger side connector that sits by the spare wheel underneath ??

Indeed see what codes come back, at least then should give a far better idea of what’s going on

Gotta love a Land Rover , lol

The compressor keeps kicking in when in off road mode, which isn't that often, a few times a week, we were collecting logs in the woods a couple of weeks ago, and she was sat stationary with engine on and could hear the compressor coming on and off to hold it up... (She was disgusted at being made to do some manual labour and kept throwing me a red suspension light on the way home) Really need some dry weather to be able to go and and spend some time on/under it.

So my codes are C1A06-1C - Right rear height sensor. It was dipped slightly on that back corner and would sporadically sink over night, So when I got my new tyres today mechanic took a look at both rear sensors and the wire to the right sensor was really corroded, had gone green, he poked it and it snapped so he's done some little bridge with some new wire and soldered it back together. Warning light has gone and car not dropped with the back passenger door yet, opened it about 6 times since.
The other code I have (but no light on dash) is C1A13-64 which from a search on here could be compressor exhaust(?)

OMG what a difference new tyres make
