Multi Height Tow Bar - Not High Enough
Having some stability problems with the D3 when towing our very large compressor. Am confident its just to do with the fact that the multi height tow bar on the disco is to low and feck all weight is being applied to the rear. I remember seeing a picture somewhere on here that used a different system for mounting the tow bar higher up but can't find it in the search. Anybody know anything about it? Thanks

Thats the one. Do you know prices for this system and is it hard to fit? Does it effect the rear parking sensors?
looks like it uses the standard removeable fitting ?
With regard to the sensors, are they not disabled when a trailer is attached ?
Or on a lighter note the fitting would not cause as much of a problem as the fooking great big trailer behind you !!"To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Yes, but just for normal driving around without the trailer would a tow bar that large not set them off?
After looking at the plate on my tow hitch I was wondering could I just turn it upside down? That would raise it about 35mm which would probably do the trick. Is this safe?? Compressor weights in at the 3500kgs
I make them you would not drive around with this in only when you need to tow it takes les than a minit to remove it i also do this one Home of RLD Hidden winch mounts Spare wheel Locks Trailer Body Fabrication ray@rld-tech.co.uk D3/4 sump plates MY 14 sump plates and the Discovery Sport wheel protectors Discovery 5 wheel locks

Isn´t that one of the fitting possibilities according to the instructions?? Seem to remember so but I could be wrong...Cheers

But sometimes I become overwhelmed with laziness
Think I will pay a visit to the dealer and see if its safe to turn the plate upside down, if not I will investigate RLD's solution further.
You can turn the plate i think or you can get a hitch have a look on the Dixon Bates web site and get a small adjustable to bolt on to your plateHome of RLD Hidden winch mounts Spare wheel Locks Trailer Body Fabrication ray@rld-tech.co.uk D3/4 sump plates MY 14 sump plates and the Discovery Sport wheel protectors Discovery 5 wheel locks

I have a Dixon Bate adjustable plate on mine and it doesn't set the sensors off with just the main frame on, so thats fitted all the time. It does set them off when the slide plate with the tow hitch is fitted. That's just one big pin so on and off in 10 sec's and lives in the boot. Also stops ar$ehole$ pinching it!!
The top of the main frame is attached to the recovery point as per RLD's, would not feel happy if it was just bolted on at the bottom to the fixed tow bar plate...To much bending motion going on if you had the slider at the top!Off Roading is OK.... But I'd rather be Boating!

Towing gear in the UK has to be TUV approved I think otherwise there would be serious legality and insurance issues in the event of any accident. Can't see Mitchell Bros being approved due to the costs involved but worth checking beforehand...Cheers

Unless a re-seller is willing to take on the task of TUV testing for either the SA or Mitchell Bros Hitches I cannot see the manufacturers in this hemisphere bothering.
Mitchell Bros meets local Australian design Rules and Road Traffic Authority requirements but I am sur nanny Europe requires multi burning hoops of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
