Hi guys, new here!
Currently running my D3 (new to me) on 20 inch rims. Looking to change to AT tyres. Mainly road use, with some field/woodland use.
Not really sure where to start!
18 or 19 inch rims?
Any help greatly appreciated!
Cheers 👍🏼

What do you currently have? Many are quite happy with 20”, too.
I have 19” myself. There was a recent thread on this
My guess ia that you’ll be able to procure used rims, in nice shape, in either size with or without tires from this forum.
As for what’s a good tire… everyone is partial to something.

My personal preference was for 18” rims. You can still fit the larger V8 brake discs under them, the on road ride is more comfortable and a deeper sidewall is preferable for off road use. Almost impossible to kerb as well.
I stuck to the standard size 255-60-18 tyres. There’s a good thread running on AT tyres:

Thanks for the replies.
Currently 255/55 R20s but one has a cut to the cords so needs replacing.
I was thinking I'd need to go down to 18s or 19s because 20 inch ATs are mega bucks, but perhaps I'm wrong? Maybe I can stick with the 20s?
I'll have a look at those threads, thanks!

The first modification I did to all my later D4’s was to remove the 20” rims that they came with and fit either 19” or 18” rims. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Yes, I think I'll go down that route.
I'm near Lewes.

I bought ‘second hand’ rims which are easy to find and cheap. 19” are fine and I think offer the widest range of AT tyres in the correct 255 55 19 size.
I just preferred the ride quality and look of 18”s. Unless you’re going to regularly do some serious off-roaring 19”s are a good compromise in my opinion. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I went down from 19" to 18" rims with BF Goodrich ATs 265/60R18.
I bought some rims off the forum and got them powder coated locally ( I am also near Lewes!)
I also fitted the V8 brake upgrade, which fits fine with the 18" rims.
You can find used rims here on the forum or on Fleabay for relavtively cheap money. 2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey (UK)
