12 month service

Hi all,
Just had my D3 done at Trivetts and very happy with everything (well apart from the early morning start in order to get there by 0900!).
Interestingly they had to do a all wheel alignment due to uneven tyre wear Shocked Apparently very slight on the very inner edges requiring you to get on the inner side of the tyre and not just look at it from the front/back (as I generally do). Anyway, it only took an hour (they 'sub-let' it out) and that cost A$80.
Now I have 2 questions; firstly I assume they did not put it in the suspension mode for full alignment as I think this takes a few hours to do, is that right? and
Secondly what would be the cost of putting it in this mode if it takes a few hours? Would it be covered by warrently?
Also, I remember a thread some time ago about Pollen filters and which vehicles had them. Well mine must as it cost A$79 to replace.
Oil used was Mobil 1 synthetic A$113.
Total service (less the wheel alignment) was $A699.75
 regards
Peter

Price seems steep!

Regarding the wheel alignment, they told me the same thing at 12 month service even though the tyre wear seemed even enough for me and the steering was perfect. I reluctantly agreed to it and the steering has never been the same since. Now wanders all over the road because I think it is toeing out. In my opinion the wheel alignment is just an excuse for them to increase their revenue per service!

Cheers

Hi Peter, I was charged $220 for an 'in-house' wheel alignment last year whilst my car was being serviced. They said it took 3 hrs which justified the cost (apparently). What is strange that your dealer is sub-letting this task out and my dealer says that it can only be done by LR. seems like a revenue raiser to me Evil or Very Mad , however the rubber is not wearing on the inside any more so something was done right.
What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

Alto sub let the alignment but do the geometry set themselves before sending it out and re-set to normal on return.
What is Trivetts hourly rate?
Did you get a loaner as Alto do one for free. Thumbs Up

Labour cost was $325 (there is no indication of hourly rate or how many hours it took).
parts were $134 (pollen filter $79)
P.O.L was $143
Waste oil levy and 'other' consumables were $26
wheel alignment was $80
GST $70

I am not complaining at all just listing for comparison sake. And interested with regard to the wheel alignment (it sounds like it was NOT put in the 'special' mode).
I did not want a hire car as I stayed in Parramatta for the day, but one was available at $60.
 regards
Peter

It not put in geometry set mode it is a waste of time as all wheels may be different by the time it gets to the alignment specialist.
I would ring Trivetts and ask.
Not sure how it compares to service at Alto as I get mine free. Very Happy (corporate program)

No, they charge me for the one at the service not sure how much. I'll need to look on the invoice.
They have done about three or four FOC when I had ititial bush settle issues and when the steering was fixed.
They are about to replace the steering arm and ball joints so they'll have to do another one then. Very Happy
