Low fuel warning/ engine reduced power and cutting out

2010 D4 HSE

For over a year now we've been getting no fuel reading and a low fuel reading on the dash/ nav screen at random times and random periods although eventually it became obvious it was to the footwells being wet due to a mixture of sunroof drain and the pollen filter water ingress problem.

I've sorted the pollen filter with a modification but seemingly we still have some water ingress from somewhere. In the meantime the car ran fine and there were no fault codes relating to the issue and after maybe a week or two it would all start working OK again.

fast forward to about 4 weeks ago and the problem reappeared and despite drying the car with a dehumidifier the dash was still showing no fuel but no faults registered and was running fine.

We're away right now and some house sitters were using the car yesterday and it started going into limp mode/ cutting out, in the end we had to arrange recovery home. It now shows fault codes 'P115B-00 2A Low fuel level force engine shutdown' and 'P115A-2 Low Fuel algorithm fail initiate low power mode', it will start but runs rough then cuts out.

I'm pretty sure it's a wiring problem so can anybody help me as to the colour coding for the fuel level sender and which route the wiring takes?. I'm aware of the wire chafing in the tank and that'll be the next step if we can't find anything in the wiring

thanks for any help

A friend had similar issues, and it was the pump/wiring in (or near the tank).

Hi Mark,

I've got exactly the same issue,
did you ever get it sorted?

I've got mine booked in at the local landrover specialist next week but was hoping it would be something I could do myself.

Cheers.

Ben.

Ben i did get it sorted thanks, by a LR specialist, it was the known problem of the wires on the sender, to fix you need to drop the tank and I guess drain it Thumbs Up

Thanks for the reply's.

Sorry, im new to the group and didn't see all the posts re fuel sender issues.
Seems like a common fault, but one i will leave to my local LR specialist i think.
Hopefully won't be too expensive 🤞
