On Board Camera
Hi. Has anyone fitted an onboard camera, ie to capture video while offroading etc? If yes, id be interested to know how you guys have set it up, ie where is it downloaded to? Is it coupled with some sort of on board computer?
Pics would be cool.
Thanks

Waterproof to 3 meters
Small and compact
Can be mounted anywere
Cons..
No viewfinder ..just point in the direction you wanna record.
Camera kit comes with various mounts , straps etc.
I have fitted an aux conector in the top glovebox , comming from the sat nav screen.I can then plug it in and view a test video on my sat nav screen.(to make sure i have it positioned correctly)
I use the LR venture cam mounts ...got of ebay for a few pounds each.I have 3 .Realy well made suction mounts .
Like this one
One is fixed behind the interior mirror. This is in the right position for me to film good front end views.
Another i stick to the drivers door. This way i get a front wheel / front action.I can then just swing it 180 degrees and get rear view shots.
Also can be mounted on the bonnet for example ..good for bow wave shots
Mounted on the drivers door ( you have to look close)
Video quality is pretty good.
I use a 2mg card and on medium resolution can get 1 hr 40 mins continuous recording.
Very neat and very small, I want one.

Yes - it's very good quality. Got some great results skiing with one last year. They're widely used for broadcast documentary/adventure stuff too.

I've got a "monster pod" from Jessops - it gets slapped onto the top of the dash when needed/wanted, otherwise lives in the glove box ready for use.
I'll get a pic of the setup later today and post it for all to see (must remember to engae short term memory)
While I wouldn't trust my SLRs on there on the move it appears to be OK for a compact digital camera.

Iconix lent me his Monsterpod at Salisbury - was well impressed, it performed beautifully with my KM Z5 - they seem to be priced at £30 in the UK, but I've managed to source one on ebay from the US at $35 including postage/shipping - around £18 Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
