Connecting iid - help!
iid tool arrived yesterday and completed firmware update and app download last night.
Went out today to connect to the car (D4)
No message on instrument pack, so after about 5 mins did the 'search for tool'. Found the tool
Message New Tool Looking for VIN
waited about 30 mins - nothing so click on nw tool and get
confirm connection = yes
then
Initialization
then nothing happens
Reflashed the firmware and redownloaded the app
Done the app on both iphone 11 and ipad
Anybody else had similar ar know how to solve?
Hope someone can help

Did you follow the instructions as per the GAP manual?

You can try connecting it in the Bluetooth settings of your phone.
I had the same issue. On my phone (Android) I tried searching for Bluetooth devices, tried to connect to the IID Tool. It then said that this connectiosn requires an App, but it worked then.IIDTool in Vienna, Austria - happy to share!

i find mine doesn't connect unless I've got the 4G and GPS on before trying for some reason.
It also occasionally can't find the tool at all and suggests that restarting the app might help, which it always has.
Don't think its worth waiting 30 mins. I find if it doesn't connect within about 10-15secs then its not going to.
I find the most reliable sequence is to turn the ignition on, wait for the car to finish its start up routine, then plug in the IID. Wait for that to start up as per the sequence showing it on the dash up to it just showing the voltage. Make sure that's a descent value then turn on the bluetooth on your phone, make sure the IID is paired and connected, then press connect on the app. Not sure if this is the official method but it works for me.

Check your car OBD socket is not damaged or dirty, only held in with two screws ISTR, first thing Pat advised me to do, if a cheapo diagnostic tool has been used at any time it could have distorted the sockets as some have oversized pins.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks for the tips
I have (so far)
done a hard reset
dismantled the socket and closed the space on the pins
Pat is on it currently

update
so after lots of to and fro and trying everything Pat suggested, including trying the tool on a different vehicle (Discovery Sport - wouldn't connect either)
Pat sent a replacement tool from Canada
Updated still will not connect.
Have been looking into CANBUS errors and voltage wise I get power to both medium and low speed bus. I also get what appears to be an appropriate resistance between the pairs of wires that make up both the medium and high speed networks.
Pat suggested checking the headlight control module and as I have Xenons this should be at the headlights themselves. (Not sure what it should be as all I can make out are the ballasts)
Not sure where to go next
I was wondering if there was anyone in the South Lakes area that might have a known good iid tool or a Pro version that I could connect to see what happens.
Here's hoping?

If you've had a good one from Canada and it didnt work whats the point of trying another?
Or am I missing something
Is it possible there's a fake port been fitted to prevent theft?.

Look on the bright side, you have found this fault before you need to use the tool or I hope so. Could there be an isolater switch hidden somewhere?
Have a look at this on you tube
