V8 noise - vacuum leak or normal intake sound? |
|
Can anyone, especially if they are familiar with the under-bonnet sounds a V8 D3 should make, suggest if the sucking noise in the below video sounds normal or possibly like some sort of vacuum leak please?

Still trying to chase elusive source of a lack of power below 3000rpm. Smoke test found leaking EGR and PCV, both changed but to no avail. You may notice the throttle seems a bit 'laggy' too but I might be overthinking that.
Cheers, AJ

Definitely not normal.
You have a leak or a crack somewhere... you can hear the intake whistle.

Seems to be coming from somewhere around the rear of the engine so annoyingly not very accessible for me to investigate further. One potential suspect is the plate and gasket on the rear of the manifold (circled in attached pic). It's booked in with mechanic but couldn't get in until the 29th Jan so got a few weeks to wait until I know more.
