| Excessive blue/oil(?) smoke on startup |

My 08 plate D3 manual is generating a cloud of thick blue smoke on starting and generally down on power, also occasionally reporting “Special Programmes Are Off”. Looking on this forum I think it might be a stuck turbo actuator and/or split intercooler hose(s), or is there anything else I should be looking at? Hoping it is something relatively simple and not a knackered turbocharger, wouldn’t be so bad if you could actually get at it! Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks, Nick.

If its from cold your glow plugs could be on there way out

Split turbo hose is a good start but as suggested check the glow plugs since they fail after a few years.

Mine frequently throws up the "Special programmes off" warning when starting from cold,had it checked and culprit was low battery,only did it during winter when not started for a few days
