Red suspension light.. but no errors being read |
|
So.. this all started when I made the mistake of turning ignition on when I had car jacked up... to replace all the discs, pads and rear shoes.
After having just about every error lit up, traced this back to a faulty abs sensor on front wheel.. (i melted cable when heating up caliper bolts) once abs sensor was replaced nearly all the errors went off.
Anyway.. cut a long story short...
Had a mate run full diagnostics on it.. loads of faults listed, but all cleared apart from EGR valve..
No faults being read now at all..but..
The red suspension fault now stays on, suspension is working, although it is slow to rise at the front..
Should mention ive just replaced the handbrake cables and repaired the gears in the handbrake module.
I'm worried because its red not Amber... anybody got any ideas?

What FCR was used to read the codes? Was it a GAP IID or LR-specific, or a generic OBD FCR? If the latter, it may have missed codes. PAGODA

Not sure, I've just messaged him to find out.
Done on a laptop, ran a full scan and it picked up about 25 errors.. cleared them all except egr valve.
Battery did go flat as car was left for weeks, but its been on charge and turns car over perfect.. car not been taken out for a run yet though.

I'd put the battery on a long charge and check it after, then check the alternator is doing its thing. No point doing anything if you know you've got a bat flattery as it can throw all sorts of errors. The battery shouldn't really go flat after a couple of weeks unless it's (a) weak or (b) there's a drain.
Check the brake lights work.
If it's a generic tool I'd suggest getting the codes read by a LR-specific device and wouldn't bother acting on codes/lack of codes from a generic tool.
Good luck. PAGODA

I'm taking her for a long run tomorrow, so will check battery then, but it has been on charge for over 24hr so I do not suspect battery now..
Just seems odd his computer read all of the other codes and cleared them... yet this light stays on red and no codes apparent.

Ok.. so the diagnostics used was delphi.
Taken it for a long run, problem light still on see attached. No errors on initial system check. Suspemsion is going up and down as normal.
Also getting an Amber parking brake warning after about 2 mile.
Restart engine and it goes out.
I have just fitted new handbrake cables and replaced the gears in handbrake module. Did read somewhere about a bedding in period?

Worth checking it hasn't got itself into tight tolerance mode, that would cause the red light to be on.

Give the battery a full charge using a charger. Do a full hard reset and reconnect.
See if that helps.

A mode for wheel alignment and the like. Causes the red light to be on, but no faults because nothing is 'wrong'. You'll need a LR specific diagnostic tool to check and change that though.
Worth following Steve's advise and giving it a charge and hard reset to start with if you haven't already.

Ok.. battery has had a full charge, hard reset done.. still the bloody same...
When ign goes on... the symbol flashes through Amber and red... stays red... won't go off.
Everything is working as it should, special modes working, suspension working.. steering g angle seems to be working as its seeing when wheels are turned and straight..... am I left with going to a main dealer ?
Or would an independent garage have the software

Maybe someone who does 4 wheel alignment might have software to do the tight tolerance mode swap, as it is needed for that. I think it can also be caused by the car loosing its calibration data so the suspension is using default values for heights rather than measured values. Must stop buying shiny toys....

how accurate is the 4x4 info display for displaying ride height for each corner ? I know its not 100% bang on but how close is it in real terms ?
my front right (UK drivers side) always seem to show its slightly higher than the other 3 but a rough measurement of each tyre to wheel arch gap are all the same give or take a mm or 2.
no warnings and everything working as it should, although compressor is a little noisy when you put it in off road height 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten
