Nige,
Def not only you mate.
We started to run winter tyres on an Audi A3 about 8 years ago. It was then I worked out how night/day the difference was between summer and winter tyres. It does not matter if its just cold(ish) and wet, rather than 10" deep snow. The car is just so much more planted. We never looked back after that!

I was lured down south from Aberdeenshire on the promise of winters so warm you could wear speedos all year and eat out on the patio in January... think I might have been sold a pup ?
Always fitted winters on all my cars, no point in changing that now... I think it's only here out of most of Northern Europe that doesn't make it mandatory...I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Hi nige
Ur thinking of Brighton
Great u got the wheels, will look really good
Out of curiosity have often looked at winter tyres and wondering because I do such low mileage if they can be left on all year round
Funny enough seen a good few videos ref winter tyres and how much difference they make over standard ones , never had a set of winter tyres before but always hear good things about them that there also better in the rain
Stay safe mate

Left them on my LHD D3 all year and they were fine, also used them on the X-Trail that I took out to Slovakia (its a lot warmer there in the summer and a lot colder in winter) and never had an issue.
They may wear everso slightly quicker than standard tyres as the rubber is softer but I'd rather have them on and not need them than not have them on and not be able to stop !
I'm a big fan of Vredestein Wintracs but other have their favourites... I'm currently running Avon winters on the Alfa...I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

had me worried there as I'm due to drive to France in a few weeks ... just chosen 4 tyres that are not winter ones but A-rated for wet grip as that is what matters most for me.
However, quick check on Uniroyal website shows ...

Many thks as always for the sound advice
Must admit always liked Bridgestone tyres, currently have coopers and would be nice to have some winter tyres
Will defentely check the Vredestein Tyres out when I’m ready to change mine
What would u say is an average to get out of a set of winter tyres pls
