First Use IID Parking Sensor and Eco Issues |
|
Hi all,
Hoping someone can help here, I used my IID BT tool for the first time this morning after activation/ registration etc.
I was hoping to activate the towing modules (tow electrics fitted by me) as I expect to be towing soon and wanted the parking sensors etc disabled when in reverse with the tow attached. I had tested the 13 pin electrics after I fitted them and all were working.
However, after selecting 13 pin, tow ball attached and tow bar attached on the IID tool the eco start/ stop warning is now on the dashboard and the parking sensors don’t work at all.
Having given myself the fear, I restored everything using the initial back up made when activating the tool.
Even now, the eco start stop warning is active and I have no parking sensors.
I suspect the eco issue is due to a drop in battery voltage from using the IID, but I don’t know about the parking sensors.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hello,
Have you made changes to the CCF with any good battery charger attached in supply mode to prevent battery drain? I guess S/S system is showing as on due to battery state.
Have you ran fault codes reading? Try setting up the tool to include pending faults and click on show all faults on the tool. Make sure your battery is charged though.
Have you enabled all below as per Gap site?
All except Range Rover L322 2002-2009
– Tow bar -> Yes
– Trailer module -> select the correct one
– Trailer stability assist -> Yes (will only work if surround cameras are fitted)
– Trailer towing ball -> Fitted
Good luck resolving the issue.

Hi Greg,
No battery charger connected, my 5A Ctek doesn’t do supply mode but the battery was showing 14.5V in the initial display. It subsequently dropped to 13.1V when I had restored everything to the back up.
All modules initially adjusted as per the Gap site and your post.
Here is a daft question though that I’ve not considered, do the parking sensors work with the EPB on? I did get a parking sensor failure message and a tone but since restoring everything the message nor the tone returned.
I’ve had a cup of tea so I’m ready to return to this!
There is a fault code on the engine module that doesn’t clear, but I can’t remember what it says. I’ll screen shot it next time.
Cheers

No park sensors don’t work with park brake on.
Still worth connecting your 5A charger.

Check other modules for codes, and clear them too
D4 seems to struggle at times, for instance, bringing the EML on, despite logging no codes in the engine system, caused by a fault in the TCM
Clear all faults does not actually clear all the faults, and some needs clearing by individual ECU My D3 Build Thread

So, indeed the parking sensors do not work when the EPB is on, I’ve not noticed this in the 4 years I’ve had the car
Also, the eco start/ stop warning was gone when I got back out to her
So the original job is done for the tow electrics but I’ve now got three fault codes as per the attached pic.
Any pointers on the engine code would be appreciated!
Thanks for the assistance so far! Current Stable

Hey
Windshield misting sensor sits in small plastic box behind rear view mirror on driver side on blacke out portion of windshiled
I had same error and it was faulty cost round 20 quid repacement is plug and play
As to U type code it states:
NOTE: Monitor description.
Engine control module has been
informed of a failure within the dual
battery system
Inspect connectors for signs of
water ingress, and pins for
damage and/or corrosion
Refer to the electrical circuit
diagrams and check connections
are secure and wiring integrit
Good luck, and I guess SS battery ()small one) is done ?

Got the sensor on order, and hopefully that will solve the other temperature control issues that LR don’t understand.
As for the other U code, I’ll wait until the next service in 2 weeks to see what’s what.
Thanks to all everyone for all the help, can always count on the members here to assist!

Everything appears to be working, so not too concerned, good to know though.
It’s a good tool but not quite as nice to use as the VAGCOM for Audi VW group vehicles. Current Stable

I think the interface is more user friendly as long as you have the wiki handy with all the codes but I see your point!
I think I’m just more used to VCDS, the flashing of ECUs with the IID puts the sh*tiers right up me! And the instruction manual is pretty daunting for the IID, but using it and understanding the changes is pretty straightforward. Current Stable
