Pays to check out second hand LR.....
Jeeeez. Been looking at what seems a nice D4 at a second hand dealer (with decent feedback).
Ran a £9.99 check on the reg number and it has outstanding finance, a salvage report (with photographic damage after being stolen and what looks like a cloned VIN) and worst of all a mileage showing what seems to be just under 100K less than what the salvage report says....
My suspicions started with a scant service history over it's 6 year life...
How does a dealer put that up for sale saying nothing when these things are just a short check away?
Did you do a free MoT history check, and what if anything did it reveal regarding mileage?
Please name the dealer, so that others can be warned.
Good luck.

Be good to stick the registration plate up in case anyone searches for it

One thing to bear in mind, is that it could have been a private plate on a previous car...
HPI has a caveat that you must validate the VIN, not the number plate. They also report change of plates so you have a heads-up that it *may* not be the same vehicle.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

SF14 PZG - beware! Issues reported on 2014 second hand D4
They have decent reviews so I really surprised to find all this.
I use vcheck (and I am not associated with it) not HPI.
It shows outstanding finance, a salvage report one of the pictures on that being the attached and also a big mileage issue.
First MOT shows at 23-8-2017 with a mileage of 38767. There are no MOTs inbetween which is strange but it seems the vehicle was stolen and cloned...
The last one was 30-1-2020 at a reported 40327.
600 miles in 3 years?
Well, when the vehicle was sold on from salvage 0n 28-1-2020 they reported the mileage as 139025.
Hope this helps people, they want top money for it too...

the mileage could well be a typo by adding the the 1 on the front of 39025 so that may just resolve the mileage problem.
but the salvage report and that VIN number would make me run a mile
I was under the impression that dealers had to check the car with HPI or equivalent and be able to provide a report before they could sell the car on.. could be wrong though2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Shouldn't this be reported to Trading Standards or a relevant body in the UK?PAGODA

The VIN in the photo above doesn't match the VIN in the service sheet on the dealer's website (1st few numbers)
Would be worth looking at the vehicle in person to check its not a glitch on the database you searchedWhen you are dead, you do not know you are dead. All of the pain is felt by others. The same thing happens when you are stupid.
Dealers often do the HPI checks as they sell the car, so buyer gets up to date reports and no money shelled out until necessary..

Have you mentioned all this to the dealer?
A simple typo somewhere along the line can set you off on a wild goose chase.
And as I've found to my cost before, transferring private plates on and off a car can cause havoc with records, especially if the car doesn't get it's original reg back after the private plate was on it.

Like the OP I would run a mile from this car and the dealer.
OK, hands up .... who gets an average of 35.3 mpg from their D4?? and it is being advertised as having a "good service history" and the pic of the dash shows mileage as 41,483 on 4 Jan 2013 Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector
