Intermittent Cruise Control

Morning All
I have a 2005 D3 Auto with a random cruise control.
When I turn ignition on and drive away the CC is working fine, then around 25-30 presses/adjustments later it decides to turn off and will not come back on until the engine is turned off and on.
Is this normal? I dont think so, but welcome any feedback.
I have replaced the Squibs with a S/hand unit, then recently replaced with a new one, but still the same.
All other buttons on the steering wheel are working fine.

Anyone experienced the same? Any thoughts?

Clock spring?
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

That’s what I’ve replaced, the squib/clock spring

I have tried a couple of units I was given, then purchased one new, still the same effect

Ok, so whizzed home tonight, collected a new switch from Euro car parts and fitted.

Drive out of my street, onto the main road, pressed the button once for the cruise to engage, all good….
Pressed the brakes, applied the cruise again to no response !!!!
The new switch was worse than the original….. I’ve put the old one back on for now…

Any ideas now ??

Brake light bulbs?- check they are making good contact and/or fit new good quality bulbs.
Return the switch to Europarts Thumbs Up
