Finally got my heated steering wheel to work after 18 months of buying more items and re-checking and generally faffing around! - brilliant!
Thank you to bbs and their after sales support!

To add some information and maybe help someone else from loosing more hair! the issue might be two fold the first was basically the replacement heated pcb from bbs, this had a couple of wires loose, To be honest I never noticed it when I first fitted this board so not 100 % sure if they have always been loose or have become loose from my intervention?
From reading this great forum, I purchased all the required components, a rrs 2010 steering wheel (forum member) new heated clock spring, power cable from the club shop, etc....new steering control and heater pcb's from bbs for the control modules.
Again knowledge from this forum, gave me the understanding to have ago at dismantling the fascia and controls, (h-trim ), steering wheel etc, ( the look on the wife's face when walking past the truck with everything out of the car.....steering wheel, h, trim, stereo, sat nav......wires sticking out in various places.....and me confidently saying yes I do know where it all goes honest!
Positive to say I managed to place everything back together (with no remaining extras!) and then switched on! - but disappointed with only the green light! Instead of the yellow light indicating that heating is on! - But ok everything else worked apart from the heated steering wheel.....
Loads more time wasted with checking and re-checking everything numerous times. Even asked flack to double check everything for me........we both came to the conclusion it must be the heating element in the steering wheel that was at fault.....(mick fitted his heated steering wheel, and all worked ok.)
But as we all now know, you can't buy this heating component.....you have to buy the whole steering wheel.....
So with some cash available this winter I bit the bullet and purchased a brand new 2016 steering wheel from duckworths, and fitted it during the Christmas break and still no heat!
At this point, it was a case of "that's it sell the bloody lot!"
My Last resort was to email to bbs, and explained the whole situation to them, they very quickly asked me to check the heater pcb, ok one last time I thought and low and behold.........
I've looked at this and other sections so many times, but it's now very clear to see the problem.
Really don't know if it was me or not enough solder penetration? - to be honest at this moment I really don't care, bbs have sorted me out very quickly and it works! - so one happy hot handed discovery driver!
So now I'll have to re-check the rrs2010 steering wheel to see if it does actually work, and if it does it will be back up for sale soon......watch this space....
New 2016 steering wheel that has had the control modules swapped from the rrs into this steering wheel...
At last ! (Notice the little yellow light!!! )

Sorry to be ignorant....
Just got myself a 2008 HSE, love the idea of a heated steering wheel, read your posts, looking at the last picture of the steering wheel, do all the buttons work or do you have any redundancy?
Do you know if anybody sells all the required parts as one kit?

All the switches will work but you will have to buy the parts separately Clock spring for heated wheel, wheel itself and then replacement pcb boards for the wheel switches from a company called Blackbox solutions hope this helps.
It's so nice having one, toasty hands in the morning

Thank you for the response, apologies for the delay in acknowledging it!
Can I ask, if I get a RRS wheel that has paddles, I'm assuming that I can remove them or ignore them?
