Coolant light permanently on - despite new expansion tank |
|
I’ve had a warning pop up intermittently telling me the coolant level is low. However, you experienced folk on here have already had this issue and so I sourced a replacement expansion tank. At the weekend I change the front wheel bearings and once I started the car up after the service I noticed the coolant warning light was permanently lit amber. I thought this was my cue to replace the expansion tank thinking this was faulty sensor related. I replaced the tank with minimal loss of fluid, however, the coolant light was still illuminated and with no warning of low-level. I didn’t bleed the system as as I said earlier there was minimal fluid loss.
What could be the possible causes for the coolant light to be permanently let amber?
Thanks.

I originally had a warning message regarding the level. Now I have a coolant (presumably) temp light permanently amber (just below the coolant temp gauge)

Now that makes sense as I broke the cable going to the front near side pads.
Thanks for your replies, I thought it was a coolant issue and was nervous about it overheating.
