Chugging engine

Hi All. After a bit of advice. My engine has developed what I can only describe as a chugging noise. It has been to my local Indy who thought that it may have been a faulty injector. They were sent off for pressure testing and no faults were found. After refitting the engine sounded better but has gradually got worse again. No faults are being registered in the log. I’ve tried to capture it on video - you can just about hear it when I pull away but it’s more apparent when I turn right into the junction (48 sec mark). Has anybody experienced this before or have any idea what it could be (apart from the injectors)?

Is your EML on? What make/type of diagnostic tool are you using? Is there any loss of power?

Trying to build a picture as the video sound is degraded by the traffic.

No engine management light. Not sure what diag tools the dealer uses unfortunately. All they said was that nothing was logging a fault.

Performance is fine. It can be heard loudest around the 48 second mark. It doesn’t occur when cruising, only when I when turning into a junction and accelerating slowly or when pulling away slowly. If I accelerate harder then I get a “diesel rattle” but not the chugging.

It doesn't sound like the engine at all to me.
The noise frequency does not match the engine revs, it seems to match the road speed instead.
I would start looking at the drive train stating with the tyres, wheels and brakes.

Also look for anything loose beneath the car that can flap about when you are moving.

Do you hear the noise when the car is stationary?

Only when I accelerate (but not all the time). It’s definitely the “diesel rattle“ that I can hear. It’s very difficult to capture it on video because of all the ambient noise.

If you believe it's definitely the engine, perhaps it's worth trying to make a recording from within the engine bay itself?

I’ll borrow my sons go-pro and strap it under the bonnet. I’d love to do it myself but it would be a bit dangerous Laughing
