Blower Motor Fan/Squirel Cage |
|
So I have been hearing a high pitch squeal when running the blower fan after the pollen filter change. I took out the pollen filter and unfortunately started to run my finger along the rim and smack! Yea it was running full speed. figured there was some kind of guard or debris catch before the open fan blades. So turned off, adjusted the pollen filter and no high pitched squeal.
However, I then heard a low pitch vibration from the blower. Cut it off this time took out pollen filter and felt around the fan and sure enough, my finger didn't take the brunt of the damage, it was the fan. Seems I took out about 10 blades on the fan.
MY question is, has anyone replaced the fan only on the blower vice the whole unit? Feels like it might have a removable fan cage but not sure without removing the whole lot. 2005 Land Rover D3, 4.4L V8, Maya Gold Metallic

This doesn’t help you (and I’m glad you got it sorted) - I also had the high pitched squeal and it went away with a new unit. The Indy said the the stickers on it said it was manufactured in 2004 so I figure 14 years was enough for it.
