Roof Rack or Tow Basket

Good Evening

I am after a roof rack or tow basket for my D3, its to take camping equipment when we go on holiday. Can anyone recommend a reasonable place to but one and are there any people recommend i should stay clear off.

The Disco will be fully loaded with 7 people so the rack or basket will need to take all the gear.

Thanks

Hi, you might be better off with a trailer. We only just manage to fit all our stuff in with a roof box and Thule bag on the tow bar for the tent and the is only four of us. Money wise that is a cheaper outlay if you are going to do it often.

This is a pic of ours on our way to France for two weeks. Regards Lee.

I went the safari rack version. However I made it myself, the main purpose
other than carrying stuff is a place to put my lights.

Wish I would have shortened the upright braces and therefore the height. It is actually longer than it looks in the photo.

You could use 4 crossbars depending on what you are loading. On my Freelander I had a roof platform but replaced it with 4 crossbars with a net weight saving of 16kg.

I'd recommend the Front Runner full length rack. I love mine and it's not that heavy. It is a little pricey but it's worth it in my opinion. Would also recommend getting the wind deflector, it can get really noisy without it.
