Ramps

Just a quickie

If I had two sets of standard sized axle ramps can a D3 go up all four at once to get it in the air for changing fluids and cleaning the chassis ?

Thanks

It would be very difficult as the ramps tend to kick out.

I would suggest putting the front on one set of ramps then jack the back end up and put it on axle stands.
Make sure the ramps a fit for purpose.

I have a set of hydraulic ramps that i used simular to the link below but i had 4t ones made.

Yes, that's how I do mine
Put my ramps against tyres, low range and up nice and steady.

It is something I have done, raise the suspension and put into low range first. My drive is block paved, so the ramps grip well.

Never had any problems getting the car to scramble up four ramps at once. I put it into rock-crawl mode and I hardly notice it moving. Quite impressive. Same for temporary ramps made out of railway sleepers. Crawls up a pile of three sleepers high no bother.

I would add a note of caution, driving up a set of 4 ramps in low box means that it can be very difficult to gauge where you are on the top. If you go too far forward you can either drive over the lip or the ramp can tip if they are not big enough for a large 4x4.

I use wood blocks which are lower than ramps to drive on instead as if you go too far they will not damage the car and with the suspension on off road height there is plenty of room. If you are concerned about the vehicle lowering on you then use axle stands under the chassis every time.

I've driven up four ramps many times.
You can feel the stop at the top of the ramps with four wheels, just as well as two. Thumbs Up
