Engine management system warning light on/won’t start
Hi. I’m new on here. I own an 07 Discovery 3 2.7 TDVSE Automatic that’s just broken down (again) and I’m looking for some guidance!
A couple of times over the past 4 months she wouldn’t go into Drive but if I put her into Park then Drive all was ok.
Yesterday when my husband was driving her, she lost all power apparently, the Transmission error message came on apparently with a large F displayed near the mileage dial. She dropped low and wouldn’t start. The Engine Management System Orange warning sign comes on when you turn the key. System checks goes ok, no error messages but she won’t start, and when you try the orange coil light now comes on. She sounds like she wants to start for a couple of tries then there is just a clicking noise. Light and radio work. She’s still sitting low. Had to have her recovered home last night but before I arrange to get her recovered to my Landrover repair Centre, any ideas? Could it be as simple as a battery? The last repair was complete air suspension system and cost me over £2k. I’d owned her 6 weeks 😭 so I’m hoping it’s nothing as catastrophic as that again 🤞

Hi and welcome to the group.
I’m sure I speak for a lot of people on here when I say get it plugged in and see what codes are coming up.
Sorry to be vague

Hi LizzK and welcome to our forum for the intellectually challenged
If we start with your problem shifting the gear selector, its likely the cable which connect to the gearbox has partially seized. That is a very cheap fix and takes about 30 minutes!!
As for the current issue, the vehicle will have stored diagnostic information which will need to be read in order to be certain of what this problem is. If you do not own your own diagnostic tools then a good independent Land Rover specialist is the way to go. It could be something simple like the battery, and if you are hearing a "clicking sound" when you turn the key to start, it is very likely the battery is now run down from the attempts to start, or is kaput!
I note you said the recent air suspension work came to 2k which seems very excessive even without knowing what exactly you had done!! I would suggest you carefully select a recommended independent LR specialist, who will read the stored diagnostic faults and report back with those details and recommended repair and costs.
I can't obviously help you with this due to my location, but there are very many top class lads on here who once have seen this post will be able to steer you to a LR specialist local to you.
Best of luck with getting it sorted and.... Watch this space!!!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

I'm with Profsr g - get the gearbox cable connection cleaned and checked. It looks very much like a possible battery being dead or alternator not working correctly, these vehicles are very dependent on the battery being fully charged all the time. You do need the codes read as this is where to start looking for the problem.
