DISCOVERY 4 DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SPECS |
|
Thankyou for allowing me to join this group, it's a treasure trove of information. I'm looking to buy a Discovery 4. Or the 2015 model. Can someone please help me understand the differance between specifications. I understand they go from base level upto a more luxury level. I'm from Perth Australia. The models I have available are 2015 TDV6, SDV6 SE, SDV6 HSE, or a 2013 SDV6 HSE. Just going of the pricing I'd assume the TDV6 is the base model. With the SDV6 HSE as the flashest. I'm on a fairly tight budget with the most expensive being $56000 and the cheapest $43000. What's package will represent the best value for money? I dont want to pay an extra 10 I just something fairly insignificant. All the cars are at about the 100,000 km mark in terms of mileage. Any advice would be both valued and appreciated.

Specs go TDV6 (Base), SDV6 SE then SDV6 HSE (Top).
TDV6 engine is 155Kw/520Nm
SDV6 engine is 183Kw/600Nm
Both engines are mechanically identical, it’s the ECU tune that give the extra Kw/Nm. You can remap a TDV6 upto RRS SDV6 spec (255Kw/700Nm), including EGR disable, for about $1200 (Autocode in Bentley).
Differences between the TDV6 and SDV6 are minimal outside of the engine power. SE has electric (Non-memory) drivers seat, armrests front passenger & driver, powerfold mirrors, xenon headlights, 7 spoke 19” rims, and camera/large touch screen/Meridan audio.
HSE as a lot more.
I wanted an 8-speed, facelift that had the reverse camera/large touch screen/Meridan audio. My budget wouldn’t stretch to a SE or HSE. I ended up with a MY14 TDV6 with reverse camera/large touch screen/Meridan audio and Xenon headlights.
If you will be carrying people in the 3rd row seats on a regular basis I would say look for one with rear air con (Standard with HSE, optional with TDV6 & SE). MY14 TDV6

Thanks so much that's some really good information. It confirmed the little I did know. I'm looking forward to buying one in the next few weeks. I think I'm going to aim for lower km and newer model over luxury. Great to find out about the rear access. That helps a lot.

2015 D4 probably the most amazing yet, why get a RR?

Thankyou. I'm super excite to purchase one. I'm still a couple of weeks away with the money side of things. You see the used market fluctuate with what's available. The pool of cars available seems to be reducing. Some great info from Kelvo. I think an AC unit is a must as I intend to use the seven seats a bit. They're great cars from the research I've done so far. Only wish I bought one sooner. What's the E Diff? I'd assume to do with the differential? Whys it a good thing?

The E-diff is an auto locking rear diff. Must be ordered from buid as not available after market. Will be a stand-out when selling the vehicle. 2003 D2a Auto TD5 good Landy gone

Sunroof (Sunroof – Electric, tilt/slide front glass and fixed glass Alpine Roof) was not fitted as standard to an Australian spec D4. It was available on all specs (TDV6/SE/HSE) as a $3860 option. MY14 TDV6

One thing that has improved cabin temperatures in mine was getting ceramic window tints, I kept it legal with 35% (A to B pillars) & 20% (B to rear). There is a larger number of D4s in QLD with rear A/C, but that will involve buying unseen/undriven. MY14 TDV6
