D3 rear tailgate actuator recommendation

Dear All

I am having the issue elsewhere reported on the forum where my boot will open perhaps once when I try to open it and then on subsequent attempts to release it I press the handle but the boot does not unlock.

From my reading it looks like this is the actuator. I have read something about a FORD replacement that you can buy (and swop the rear plate?) , and I have seen some for sale on eBay that are considerably cheaper than an official LR part.

Has anyone got some solid advice for me on whether I can buy an after market replacement (and if so which one is good quality) please?

Also - am I right? Is it the actuator that has gone.

I put a cheap eBay one on my d4 a few weeks ok so far, I fitted a manual option at the same time ( bicycle cable for a couple of £ from Wilko). There is a good guide on here covering it all

I replaced my faulty tailgate handle with one I bought of Ebay. Cost £19.99 free postage arrived in the post within 3 days.my mechanic fitted it took about 30 minutes.
Works fine so far Very Happy

Thanks - was it your handle that was not working then rather than the actuator? I'm not sure how I tell which bit is broken...

Just the handle. actuator worked. you could hear it clicking.
