2006 to 2014 headlight conversion.
hey guys. I recently got myself a disco 3 metropolis and decided to go for the late 2014 - 2016 facelift conversion. I manages to source some headlights that are DLR / cornering / xneon. I have trolled the threads to try find if anyone has shown how easy these are to change and wire..... some threads it says have been removed. any help welcome please....

Sacrilege to a Metropolis. Only 300 made and should be left as original. Well that's my opinion anyway.

It's more than just a headlight swap.
Wings, bumper, grill etc all needed (I think)

I plugged in a 2015 xenon cornering headlight to my D3 and everything seemed to work. DRL came on as the sidelight. If you want them on auto, you would need to add a switched ignition feed to the sidelight wire instead. If you have AFS headlights on your D3, you will loose those functions. The cornering light will come on with the indicator but not when you just turn the steering wheel. If you have AFS headlights, I personally would not change them.

Just thought i would try one out to get a feel. Irwin you are right they worked as expected and the adaptive lights dont work and flashes up on dash with orange symbol. The new ones i picked up are also meant to be adaptive but i guess its something to do with the ecu. Anyone one way around this. Thoughts should i convert or leave as is with the detango lights.

I would think a CCF edit to disable the AFS would probably do it, you can get AFS to work though I think Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Thats the conversion done.
Front wings
Front bumper
Front exnon headlights
Now anyone fitting a disco 4 bumper will figure out that you need to trim the plastic air direction thing infront of the radiator to get tge new bumper to fit. Thats if using genuine landrover parts.
As for headlights mine previously were adaptive xenon lights and new plugged straight in. To get DRL to work on ignition i run a feed from fuse box no5 in from window nearer to the relays and put it to pin 2 of the connector.... however i am certain they should be brighter when drl only. So if anyone can advise that would be appreciated. The good new is that the cornerinv lights still worked but the adaptives obviously not. I will need to get the ccf done when i get chance as adbised in post.
I was not sure if i should do conversion but must say i am wrll happy with it.
So of anyone can let me know about the headlights to get them brighter that would be good.
Also by the way the disco 3 has 2 connector 1 for fogs and 1 for pdc. New disco 4 has 1 connector i still need to wire the pdc but fogs working. And finally the headlight washer pipes are not compatable so a little adapting required.
Not bad for 6 hours work. It was the bumper that caught me out for a while to figure why it wouldnt fit..

Out of interest, how much did your conversion cost?

Picked up brand new headlight xenon 750
Second hand wings already painted 400 with arches and vents
Secondhand front bumper 550 came with pdc's and fogs
Front grill 90
So under 1800. Few marks on wings and bumper when looking up close so may get resprayed
Easy enough to do and saved a fortune. Best bargain was the lights they are over 1200 each from land rover
All genuine parts as well
