The lieometer is about 10% out. Only accurate MPG calc is tank to tank. Thumbs Up

Its about right if its an auto if its a manual your a bit low. But as said above the best way is to work it out from the amount of fuel used and number of miles.

My clocks have been calibrated and read very accuratly but when i work out the mpg its always different to the dash by varying amounts

I hope mine isn't accurate. It was down at 15.4 mpg this morning, after a "spirited" drive to Dunkeld and back Laughing Embarassed

I am using mine on my sixty mile a day commute currently as I recently changed job location. If I keep to fifty five on dual carriageway and 62 on the motorway I’m seeing 35 mpg. Car has a good remap on it. Auto. Tyre pressures all set to max for empty load. I planned to sell it and get a small economy car but still doing man maths to show me how it’s better to keep it.
We use my car regularly for 400/ 500 miles long weekends and with a little load and a little more speed it regularly turns in 30 mpg.

One of the free fuel use apps will calculate the true mpg for you.

I use RoadTrip lite. The free version, as recommended on here years ago.

And it’s sooooooooo nice seeing a 5 where I’d normally see a 2, or just into 3 if I was lucky. Planet well and truely saved. Whistle Whistle

^ Which is all that counts. 👍

I kept my D3 for c.150k miles. Overall average was just over 26mpg from memory. My D4’s were more efficient but only by 2-3mpg.

ISTR (no longer have the data) that both the D3 and D4 were identical mpg-wise, both around the 29mpg (actual) mark. That was with prob 80 - 90% cruising at 60mpg on long hauls. Always amuses me when peeps think they are getting anything better than that coz the dash tells them. Mine would often show crazy numbers like 36 or even 38mpg after a long haul, reality was 30 if I was lucky. Whistle Whistle

To make you all feel better, both of my Series 2a petrol Land Rovers (LWB and a SWB) are doing 15 and 17 mpg respectively.

I had a series 1 with a Rover short stroke v8 from a Rover P6. It redlined at 55mph in top gear and did 4 mpg when you were having fun and about 10 mpg if you went easy. It was so fun to drive and made all the right noises, i did think about chaging the diffs but 50 mph was scary enough on the hard leaf spings and the drum brakes were useless.
It only had a small fuel tank under the seat so had to fill up every other day, but fuel was only about £1.50 a gallon

Its a 3 tonne brick with a big engine and lots of transmission friction so why worry about mpg? Laughing
